Local native fish make great pets

By Otto

I wanted to put some local wild fish in my new fish tank. I captured some mosquitofish. I have two females and one male. These are extremely plentiful fish that look like guppies. They have no color. It dawns on me that there are few minnows in this town or this part of the state. If I decide these are just not very good pets I can put them back in the real muddy creak I got them out of by my house. I hope I can catch some much prettier fish—maybe in Hutchinson. I still plan to put tropical fish in also. They come from Asia and South and Central America, mostly.
I think it is cool to get local fish into the mix. They are our local pet supplies. And it creates this wonderful global community in my tank. It is the kind of global community I wish people could create.
